Venteux and the Windy City

Chicago! The windy city… Have you ever wondered how Chicago got its infamous nickname? Back in 1876, The Cincinnati Enquirer used the term in reference to a tornado that blew through the city, while also capitalizing on the term’s double meaning to highlight local speakers who were “full of wind,” or hot air. There’s nothing like a good double entendre to keep you on your toes!

While the name has stuck, we’re happy to inform you that there’s no wind in our menu – just great food, and an amazing atmosphere. And if we’re talking about a literal wind, the Pendry Hotel Chicago will keep you safe from any overpowering gusts. If you’re passing by, but already have plans for dinner, you’re always welcome to pop in for a cup of coffee, or a sparkling iced espresso at our café!

What’s for dinner?

Downtown Chicago

Our menu boasts many options. If you’re looking for shellfish, we have oyster specials every Tuesday, and our shrimp cocktail is to die for. And don’t forget about Date Night Wednesdays! It’s never a bad idea to hire a sitter, and have a special night out.

If you’re looking for something light, our Spring Bibb Salad has turned quite a few heads as it makes its way to tables, and with entrées, the sky’s the limit. Whether you’re looking for savory roasted chicken with black truffle cream, potatoes, and herbs, or seared scallops with cauliflower, romanesco, truffle, and citrus, we’ve got you covered.

If dinner for 2 (or more) is more your speed, then you want to be on the look for our whole dry aged duck with crepes, sunchoke, and marmalade. At any rate, we’ll have a table ready for you, and we’ll serve up a meal to remember.
